Special fast-drying glue for attaching opalith marking tags to queen bees. Germany.
Glue for attaching marking tags to queen bees, Germany.
Queen marking has been used in beekeeping for many years. One of the most successful methods of marking a queen bee is to attach a small opalith disc of a particular colour, shape or with a number. For attaching the tag, it is important to use a special glue that dries quickly and, after a few minutes, has no strong or unusual odour.
This glue from a German manufacturer has been specially developed for use in beekeeping. When applying a tag to a queen bee, the glue dries in just 3-5 minutes and the queen bee can safely be returned to the hive with the bees. A wooden matchstick or toothpick is used to apply the glue to the queen bee.
The glue is supplied in a glass bottle with a tight-fitting lid. The volume of the bottle is enough for a small home apiary for several years when queen bees are replaced annually. The airtight plastic cap allows the glue to be stored for a long time without loss of quality.
We recommend using this glue together with German Jenter marking tags from our beekeeping online shop. Glue is already included in the marking tag set.
