In beekeeping, for queen rearing or collecting royal jelly, it is necessary to transfer a larva from the comb into the cell cup required by the beekeeper. Many tools have been invented for this delicate procedure. Many grafting tools injure the larva, cannot pick up or release the larva, or do not transfer the drop of royal jelly in which the larva is sitting.

Just a few years ago, Chinese beekeepers invented a grafting tool with a small flexible tip that easily and reliably picks up the larva. Most importantly, it lifts the larva together with the drop of royal jelly present on the comb. Another important feature of the Chinese grafting tool is the ability to release the larva automatically using a built-in spring-loaded plunger mechanism.

Please note: when transferring larvae, choose a place with sufficient humidity and no direct sunlight falling on the larvae. Beekeepers often transfer larvae in a car, and to maintain humidity they cover the comb with larvae using a damp towel.

To transfer a larva, bring the tool to the comb and press the button at the top of the device. Pick up the larva together with the drop of royal jelly and transfer it into the required cell cup. To remove the larva from the tool, release the button and, under the action of the spring-loaded plunger, the larva will be placed into the new cell cup.

Because of the country where this tool was invented, it is commonly known as the "Chinese grafting tool".
