When fitting and tensioning wire on frames, the wire can cut into the wood and, as a result, sag. This may cause deformation of the beeswax foundation sheet. To avoid this, special eyelets are used in beekeeping.

The eyelets are made of iron with a copper coating, which protects them from corrosion and rust. The eyelet has a special flanged head with a smooth curve, making it easier to guide the wire through the hole.
