Side eyelets for frames

When fitting and tensioning wire in hive frames, the wire often cuts into the wood and becomes slack. This can lead to deformation of the beeswax foundation sheet. On such deformed sheets of beeswax foundation, bees often build drone cells. Wire cuts especially deeply into soft woods, such as lime (linden), even though lime is considered one of the highest-quality types of wood. To avoid such problems in beekeeping, special eyelets are used, similar to an “eyelet” used in furniture production.

bushings_800-223.jpgThe eyelet has a special coating that protects it from corrosion and rust. It is made in a mushroom shape and has a head with a smooth curve for convenient threading of the wire through the hole. The eyelet diameter is just 2.5 mm, which is fully sufficient for all types of wire used in beekeeping. The eyelet height of 4.5 mm provides ample allowance for all standard hive frame types. The 5 mm diameter rounded head allows the wire to bend without deformation and without sharp angles.
