Precipitated sulphur (Sulfur 99.9%)

Precipitated sulphur is considered more active than purified sulphur. In beekeeping, precipitated sulphur is used for fumigating hives and combs. To do this, hot sulphur gas must be produced. It is ignited at a rate of 500 g per m3 and a density of 100 brood combs in the same volume. Another option is 150 g of sulphur per m3 in a room, with exposure for 24 hours. For fumigation, use a pit with burning coals, onto which the required amount of sulphur powder is poured. A stack of hive bodies with combs is then placed over the pit. After this treatment, wax moth larvae (caterpillars) are killed; for complete destruction, once the next generation of pests has hatched from the eggs, repeat treatment is required after 10-15 days.

When burned, sulphur forms sulphur dioxide and particles of sublimed sulphur, which are lethal to moths. After full ventilation, the treatment does not affect bees (the combs must be empty, without honey or bee bread). Sulphur residues can be neutralised with ammonia solution: place 6-10 ml per m3 inside to evaporate.

Sulphur is also widely used in medicine, veterinary applications, the food industry, agriculture, household use, construction, and the chemical and textile industries.
