Ground Sulphur, 50 g

Sulphur in powder form is an inexpensive, proven treatment for controlling wax moth. To eliminate the pest, you need to:

1. gather the combs in a dedicated room or push the hives tightly together with the entrances open;
2. fumigate with sulphur gas by slowly burning the sulphur on glowing charcoal, at a rate of 500 g per 1 cubic metre of space occupied by frames or hives;
3. repeat the fumigation after 10–15 days.

Features of wax moth control

Sulphur kills adult moths, caterpillars and larvae, but has no effect on eggs. Larvae hatch on days 5–8, so fumigating with sulphur before the end of this period is not effective. Experienced beekeepers recommend repeating the treatment from around the tenth day after the first fumigation.
