Far Eastern Goat's Rue is a perennial honey plant from the legume family. Sow the seeds in early spring. Grows for up to 12-15 years. Flowers twice during the summer. Seed germination remains viable for up to 8 years.
This plant holds a strong position among the main honey plants of Ukraine. Goat's rue is readily visited by bees, as it produces nectar in large quantities. Bees collect an average of 150-200 kg of honey per hectare. In addition to nectar, it contains a very high amount of pollen. Flowering begins at the end of May and lasts until early July, for 30-40 days. The second flowering period is in mid-August and lasts until mid-September, which is very important as bees are actively preparing for winter at this time.
The plant reaches 120 cm in height and produces 10-18 stems, on which 15-20 cm long inflorescences form with large blue-violet flowers. Goat's rue is frost-resistant and can withstand winter temperatures down to -25°C. The plant is also an excellent green manure and forage crop.
