The half-frame foundation embedding board has a very simple design, but it is an essential tool that should be in every beekeeper’s kit. The board has a recess in the centre to hold the beeswax foundation, with the frame placed over it to size. As the wire in the frame is tensioned along the middle of the side bars, embedding beeswax foundation on a flat table is practically impossible. The board is used as follows: place the beeswax foundation on the board, put the wired frame on top, and embed the wire using a spur embedder or another suitable tool. During the embedding process, the wire stretched across the frame fits closely against the beeswax foundation, making the whole job much easier. Although the half-frame foundation embedding board is a simple accessory, it is a necessary item for both beginner and professional beekeepers.
