Plug for reliably isolating a queen bee in the Jenter comb. During isolation, the queen bee lays eggs in up to 100% of the cells.
The plug (Art. 005) is used to reliably isolate the queen bee in the Jenter comb cassette. The plug is fitted into the corresponding round opening and securely isolates the queen bee. At the same time, bees can access the queen bee through the grille in both directions.
Every owner of a Jenter comb should have a spare plug. Unfortunately, the manufacturer has not fixed the plug to the Jenter comb, and because of its small size it is very easy to lose; being transparent, it is also very difficult to find, especially in the grass at the apiary. With frequent use, the plug may also stop closing tightly enough and will need replacing.
When rearing queens with the Jenter comb, the beekeeper prepares a schedule of all actions and plans everything carefully. A small detail such as losing the cap (plug) can significantly complicate the process of isolating the queen bee for the egg-laying period. Beekeepers often contact us asking for this seemingly minor part to be sent very urgently. We therefore recommend that you always keep a spare plug for the Jenter comb.
