The feeder is designed with two separate compartments, allowing you to provide one or two different types of feed. For example, you can give bees candy and water, honey water and syrup at the same time, or simply feed one type of feed from both compartments. The material is translucent food-grade plastic. The plastic is sufficiently thick and easily withstands normal use. Special “lugs” on the sides of the feeder allow it to be inserted into the hive in place of frames. To suit various hive types and sizes, the lugs are made longer (overall feeder length 485mm), giving ample length to fit the frame space in the hive. Before installation, the lugs should therefore be trimmed to your hive frame size (standard 475mm).
The feeder walls have a textured surface, allowing bees to grip the wall. In strong colonies the feeders can be used without floats, while in weak colonies or splits it is recommended to add a float made from wood, twigs or any suitable material at hand.
