Thin Queen Excluder (10-frame) 0.5 mm images
Thin (just 0.5 mm) and reliable queen excluders for 10-frame hives securely separate the brood and honey sections of the hive.
The excluder is made from high-quality food-grade material - Vindurin. This thin plastic allows these excluders to be used effectively in hives of any type and size. The grids are easy to cut to suit non-standard hive dimensions. Thanks to its 0.5 mm thickness, the excluder can be placed between hive boxes of any design without altering the internal dimensions of the hive.
The slot width for bee passage is just 4.2 mm, reliably protecting honey supers from access by the queen bee. Accuracy of dimensions and aperture width is ensured by an automatic production line with computer-controlled laser cutting.
The excluders are made in two standard sizes for 10-frame (420 x 495 mm) and 12-frame (500 x 500 mm) hives. Given the small difference in price, beekeepers often order excluders for 12-frame hives and then trim them to their own hive size with a margin. Using larger queen excluders allows them to cover the full surface area of the hive box walls, leaving the queen bee no chance of passing into the honey section of the hive.
