To remove honey frames from the hive, the bees first need to be cleared from them. Beekeepers often use a brush for this, but it takes a lot of time and effort. In modern beekeeping, a bee escape has long been used for this purpose. It is a very simple but highly effective device. Place the bee escape between the honey super and the brood box overnight, and by morning the supers with honey frames are ready to be removed without bees. The bee escape is designed with the biological behaviour of bees in mind. Passing from the wide tunnel towards the narrow one, the bees move into the brood box, but they do not go back through the narrow tunnel, so the bees are directed in only one direction — the direction we need.

One of the most effective options available today is the "Rhombus" bee escape from the French company Nicoplast under the Nicot brand. The bee escape is fixed to a flat surface with a Ø 60 mm hole using a screw, staples or rivets. The tapered shape of the bee escape helps bees move through quickly. Prepared fixing holes are provided on the product. It is made by injection moulding from white or brown plastic certified for use in the food industry. The product has a large number of small openings throughout (3 x 3 mm), providing good communication — scent, sound, etc. — between bees in different sections of the hive.
