A beekeeper’s hive tool is useful when you need to:

• remove a layer of propolis from hive walls, trays and the side bars of frames;
• close or open the entrance door;
• separate hive bodies;
• detach the bottom board (if it is removable).

Bees cover a significant part of the hive’s internal surface with wax and propolis. This fixes the frames to the walls and prevents them from being removed or moved without extra effort. If you need to carefully remove one of the components without disturbing the bees, you first need to remove the layer of wax from it. A beekeeper’s hive tool lets you do this quickly and with minimal effort. It has both a sharp edge and a convenient lever.
