When working with bees in the apiary, the most important thing is to take maximum care and act carefully, as even one mistake can seriously harm the bees. However, your own safety must come first. Apiary work undoubtedly carries the risk of being stung by bees, and because it is impossible to predict where a sting may occur, you should always keep personal safety measures in mind. Even a single bee sting to the face or neck area can cause significant harm to a beekeeper.

Various types of protective clothing are produced to help protect beekeepers from stings. Coveralls, gloves, hats, masks and veils are just some of the items designed to protect the beekeeper’s skin from bee attacks. Choosing personal protective equipment should be taken seriously, as among the products available on the market there are many counterfeits or very poor-quality items. If you buy the cheapest beekeeping coverall, you may still be stung by bees; in that case, although the coverall is inexpensive, it will ultimately serve no real purpose.
