Eyelets are used to prevent wire from cutting into beehive frames. When the wire cuts into the wood, the sheet of beeswax foundation may sag, and bees often build drone cells on such deformed sheets of foundation. The wire cuts particularly deeply into softer types of wood, such as lime.
The eyelet has a mushroom shape, which makes feeding the wire through it more convenient. The eyelet diameter is 2.5 mm, which is quite sufficient for all types of wire used in beekeeping. The eyelet height is 4.5 mm, and the diameter of the rounded head is 5 mm.
