In the past, knives had to be heated in hot water in order to cut off cappings. This meant keeping the water at a high temperature and periodically reheating the knives in it.

Those days are long gone. They have been replaced by a beekeeping electric uncapping knife that can be powered from a standard car battery. This is a clear advantage for migratory beekeepers, while in a stationary apiary any 220 to 12 volt voltage converter can be used. Using this knife undoubtedly speeds up and simplifies the preparation of combs for honey extraction several times over. The knife has a modest power rating of 25 watts, allowing it to heat up to 90 ° C while using the power source economically. For example, a standard 60A car battery is enough for more than 28 hours of continuous operation of the electric knife

1. Knife blade dimensions: 2mm x 40mm x 230 mm.
2. Knife power supply (voltage): 12 volts.
3. Temperature of the heated knife in working condition: 70-90 ° C.
4. Electric knife power: 40 watts (older models were 25 and 30 watts).
5. Temperature of the connected knife without use (dry): 100 ° C.
6. Time required for the knife to be ready for work (heating to 90 ° C): less than 1 minute (40-50 sec).
7. Knife operating time under working load: unlimited (the knife does not require cooling).

Instructions for use

The knife will be ready for use one minute after being connected to the power source. The knife temperature reaches 90 ° C, but when cutting wax cappings from honey frames it may drop to 70 ° C. During work, the blade should be cleaned from time to time to remove accumulated cappings residue. After use, the knife should be cleaned and dried. Store in a dry place without a cover.
