Varotom (Varotom), Serbia

An effective preparation for controlling Varroa mites in bees. Varotom works thanks to the substance "Fluvalinate", with which the strips are impregnated. Each strip contains at least 80 mg of fluvalinate, which is sufficient to destroy the mite population in a bee colony. Varotom is produced as wooden strips impregnated with the active substance. When placing a strip in the hive, it should be positioned in the middle between the combs. This allows more bees to touch the strip and become carriers of the active substance. To destroy mites (up to 98-99%) in a bee colony, it is enough for just 10% of the bees to touch the strip and spread the substance "Fluvalinate" throughout the hive.

The health of bees determines productivity in beekeeping.

Varotom instructions (from the leaflet):

Varotom is a preparation for the treatment and prevention of varroosis in bees.

INSTRUCTIONS for use of the Varotom preparation.

Varotom is used to treat bee colonies against varroosis.

The pack contains 10 strips. One strip contains 80 mg of fluvalinate. Fluvalinate is a broad-spectrum pyrethroid that acts effectively as a poison on the mite’s nervous system, leading to its rapid death. Use of the treatment has no time restrictions; it is placed between the 3rd and 4th, and the 7th and 8th frames. The strips remain in the hive for 30-35 days.

Use in early spring and late autumn.
It is enough for the strip to come into contact with 10-15% of the bees, which will spread fluvalinate throughout the hive.
Treatment can also be carried out in winter provided the temperature is not below 10°C.
