This enzyme is used to produce glucose feed for bees, made artificially but similar to natural honey in terms of nutritional value and usefulness.
Previously in beekeeping, invert syrup was prepared by heating sugar syrup with citric acid or by inverting sugar syrup with honey. However, such improvised methods have a number of disadvantages: firstly, the formation of substances harmful to bees, such as hydroxymethylfurfural; and secondly, a high risk of transferring diseases to healthy colonies.
A more modern and effective method of preparing invert syrup in contemporary beekeeping is to use the enzyme Invertase (sucrase) ENZIM. The enzyme breaks down sucrose into its components: the monosaccharides glucose and fructose. In this form, the nutrients are better assimilated by bees.
