Cap for Nicot hair roller cage
The Nicot cage cap is designed to protect the queen cell from being chewed by the first emerged queen bee and to prevent bees from entering the cage. The plug closes the lower opening of the cage until the queen bee is transferred to a shipping cage. It is also intended for placing feed for the young queen bee while she is in the cage.
Cap for Nicot hair roller cage
Cage cap – a protective plug for the safety of a young queen bee newly emerged from the queen cell.
The cap for the Nicot “hair roller” cage is made of plastic. The surface of the cap has protrusions with tabs, designed for easy removal from the queen cell cage. The inner side, which closes the cage, is equipped with recesses where feed for the queen bee can be placed.
Using the cage cap
The branded cap closes the lower opening of the Nicot cage. The plug fits quite tightly into the “hair roller” cage and does not fall out, ensuring reliable protection for the queen bee until she matures, after which the cap is removed and the queen bee is transferred to a shipping cage.
As standard, the queen cell cage cap is supplied with Nicot hair roller cages. It is very small, so it is often lost. Without the cap, the beekeeper cannot use the cage, as it provides reliable protection for the queen cell against being chewed by the first emerged queen bee and prevents bees from entering the cage. To avoid running short of caps, queen rearers should always keep several spare caps on hand.
