Periodic swarming of bees is a natural phenomenon, most often occurring in hot summer weather. That is why you should always be prepared and have the necessary equipment for catching a swarm close to hand.
One such item is a swarm box, designed to hold a caught bee swarm.
The swarm box is made from plywood and fine metal mesh. Its natural-origin material is well accepted by bees. It is made in a semi-circular shape. The swarm is introduced through the sliding bottom. After the bees have been placed in the swarm box, the bottom is closed tightly, leaving no openings.
For convenient transfer of the insects to the hive, the swarm box is equipped with two handles – one on the top and one on the side. They are strong and securely attached to the walls. In addition, the handles are thick, helping to ensure they do not cut into your hands.
The swarm box is suitable for a swarm of up to 5 kg.
