The queen rearing calendar lets you accurately track the whole process of raising a queen bee, from egg to the point when the reared queen begins laying eggs.
The queen rearing calendar is used to accurately calculate all the necessary steps during queen bee rearing. With the calendar, you can identify the stages of queen bee development.
The illustrated calendar is made from 3 mm thick PVC plastic. It consists of two parts of different sizes – a hexagon and a circle. They are attached to each other so that the hexagon remains fixed, while the circle can be rotated.
The hexagon shows 30 calendar days, while the circle shows the queen bee development stages. To determine when the queen bee will emerge, turn the small circle to the date when rearing starts.
If queen rearing is started on the 8th, turn the small circle with number 4 (one-day-old larva) to this calendar date, 8. You can then immediately see that on the 18th the queens need to be isolated so that the first emerged queen bee does not destroy the others. On the 19th–20th, the queen bees emerge.
The calendar shows the full queen bee rearing cycle: egg – larva – pupa – queen bee.
