Electric Beehive Heater
12V electric hive heater – a modern device for quickly building up the strength of a bee colony during spring development.
12V / 10W Electric Beehive Heater
Many beekeepers have long appreciated the advantages of a hive heater. An electric heater makes it possible to raise the air temperature inside the hive. Although the temperature increase is not large, it is enough to significantly stimulate the queen bee to lay eggs. In this simple way, beekeepers can obtain strong bee colonies by the early spring nectar flow, or create a split.
Technical data:
- 12V AC or DC voltage;
- rated power of the device 10W
- Product weight no more than 0.15 kg;
- Size: 10x10 cm;
- Rated surface temperature of the casing no more than 40ºC.
- Warm-up to rated temperature in no less than 10 minutes;
- The hive heater is designed for long-term operation;
- the electrical resistance of a serviceable device should be within the range of 13 to 16 Ohm.
The beehive heater is an environmentally safe product. Thanks to the use of a metal-ceramic heating element, no harmful substances or electromagnetic radiation are emitted.
Note: when operating the product, beehive electric heaters can be connected in series (similar to the way Christmas tree lights are connected). To power them from a 220V household mains supply with this type of connection, a minimum of 20 electric heaters must be connected.
Using the electric beehive heater
- Place the device with the metal casing facing upwards on a horizontal surface;
- Use a screwdriver to loosen the two screws on the terminal blocks;
- Strip 6-7 mm of insulation from two wires for connecting the electric heater;
- Secure the two wires firmly in the terminal blocks using the screws;
- Connect the other end of the electrical cable to a 12 ± 1 Volt power supply;
- Check that the heating device is working after 10 minutes;
- Disconnect the device from the power supply and install it inside the hive with the plastic part of the casing facing upwards;
- The device is ready for use. Switch on the power for heating.
A power supply unit from an electric uncapping knife can be used as the power source for the electric heater. Up to 6 hive heaters can be connected to it.
Warning: do not allow water to enter the casing. Do not use petrol, acetone or other solvents to wipe the electric heater.
