Queen Cell Protector No. 1 JZ-BZ USA (with two tabs)

These protector caps are used in many Western beekeeping operations to protect queen cells when transferring them from a cell-builder colony to new bee colonies, splits or nucleus hives (nucs). Even when placing a queen cell back into its own colony, queen cell protectors are used. The soft plastic helps prevent the queen cell from being crushed by neighbouring frames or by fingers. The large grid-shaped perforations help avoid damage to the queen cell while maintaining the optimum temperature for the full development of the queen bee.

JZ-BZ protector caps are made in two types, differing only in the tabs:
- Protector cap No. 1 with tabs on both sides for fitting between frames
- Protector cap No. 2 with an extended tab on one side for inserting into the comb

JZ-BZ protector cap No. 1, with tabs on both sides, is fitted between adjacent frames. The tabs allow the queen cell to be securely fixed in place. Recommended for mature queen cells ready to emerge.

JZ-BZ protector caps are reusable, and by using them the beekeeper can move away from old, unreliable methods of protecting queen cells with foil or other materials.
