Calibration Oil for Honey Refractometer
Honey refractometer calibration kit: dioptric oil and calibration block. One 1 ml bottle of oil can be used to calibrate the instrument for many years.
Calibration Oil for Honey Refractometer
Dioptric oil is used to calibrate a refractometer when the scale readings are out of alignment. Supplied in 1 ml glass bottles.
Set includes:
Dioptric oil – 1 pc.
Calibration block – 1 pc.
How to calibrate a refractometer with dioptric oil and a calibration block?
Apply 1–2 drops of dioptric oil to the glossy surface of the calibration prism. Wait for the oil to spread evenly. Important! The prism surface must be fully covered with calibration oil, with no gaps or air bubbles.
Place the calibration block with the oil, glossy side down, on the measuring surface of the refractometer.
Press the block gently against the refractometer prism. Allow 30 seconds for the temperature of the instrument and the block to equalise.
Turn the calibration screw to adjust the refractometer scale (to Brix 78.4)
Refractometer calibration is carried out infrequently, so one bottle of dioptric oil will last for decades.
