When buying protective clothing for the apiary, the material it is made from deserves the most attention. Clothing sewn from synthetic fabric is not the best choice for the apiary, because when heated in the sun or exposed to moisture, synthetic materials can begin to release vapours containing various chemicals. This is not harmful to humans, but it can provoke bees to become aggressive.

This is due to the way bees communicate and pass signals between each other. The whole bee colony communicates using sets of scents released from special glands in the bees. If one bee senses an approaching threat, it releases a pheromone which, as it spreads, signals danger to other bees. In this case, the entire swarm heads off to attack the target it has perceived as a threat - the beekeeper.

That is why it is important to choose protective suits made from natural fabrics, such as gabardine. Gabardine is a dense woollen fabric made from merino yarn. The material is environmentally friendly and contains no chemical impurities, which eliminates the possibility of vapours that could irritate bees.

The gabardine jacket is very light, yet dense at the same time; a bee sting is virtually unable to penetrate the fabric layer and reach the beekeeper’s skin. Wearing a gabardine jacket, you will not experience problems with high temperatures inside, as the jacket is well ventilated, while the “Euro” veil provides the widest possible viewing angle.

A gabardine jacket is an excellent solution for the apiary, providing maximum safety and comfort while working with bees.
