Opalith marking discs make it easy to mark queen bees using adhesive and assign each marked queen bee her own unique number. One set contains enough numbers for a small apiary. Numbering from 1 to 99 allows you to track productive lines more accurately or simply monitor the pedigree of each bee colony.
These German markers have a slightly rounded shape for a more precise fit on the thorax of the queen bee. The markers are supplied in all main colours in accordance with the international colour standard for beekeeping. The colours are bright enough to make it easy to find the marked queen bee in the hive. For attaching them, we recommend using a special quick-drying adhesive. After the marker has been attached, it is advisable to keep the queen bee in a cage for a few minutes before releasing her. During this time, the smell of the adhesive dissipates and the marker bonds securely to the queen bee, helping to ensure successful acceptance of the marked queen bee in the hive and long-lasting, reliable wear throughout the queen bee’s life.
